Feature Focus: Dee Alexander entertains in concert

Vocalist Dee Alexander, a 3Arts awardee, will perform at 1 and 7 p.m. today at the University of Chicago's Logan Center for the Arts. Alexander's show is a celebration of her latest release "Songs My Mother Loves." The album, on the Blujazz label, was funded by 3Arts Artists Projects, which is an online crowd funding platform. Alexander has said, with her album, she wanted to pay tribute to her mother as well as celebrate classic songs from the likes of artists such as Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone.
