Committed to Artists

The following four program areas share a common thread: Each is designed to stimulate a more diverse arts environment in our city by advocating for and offering support to Chicago artists–specifically women, people of color, and people with disabilities. This direction is an extension of the founding purpose of our organization, which was to encourage the creative development of women artists in a nurturing residential environment. Further, in keeping with the three art forms that defined our organization’s name in 1912, 3Arts maintains a focus on the disciplines of music, theater, and visual arts.

3Arts supports women, people of color, and people with disabilities who live in the Chicago metropolitan area and work in the disciplines of music, theater, and visual arts, through:

3Arts Artist Awards
Six unrestricted cash awards resulting from a nomination and jury selection process

3Arts Residency Fellowships
Six two-week-long residencies

The Vision Award
Support to arts organizations for their program, project, infrastructure, or organization-wide commitment to women artists

Special Projects
