Erasing the Distance A $6,000 grant providing partial support of the salary of the executive director, who serves in a dual capacity as artist and administrator for this theater company focused on community productions about mental illness. Rivendell Theatre Ensemble A $5,000 grant to support the fees of the artistic personnel at a company that gives voice to theatre?s forgotten majority by providing an artistic home for women actors, directors, and designers, while serving as a leader in new play development for women playwrights. 20% Theatre Company Chicago A $5,000 grant to support the production of The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek at this company dedicated to women artists and gender equity in the theater. Special Projects Threewalls A $7,000 grant for a series of solo exhibitions for Chicago artists, including technical support, installation support, promotion, and stipends for the artists. Victory Gardens Theater A $9,000 grant supports performance opportunities through the Access Project, a series of productions and programs that involve people with disabilities in all aspects of the theater experience. Woman Made Gallery A $10,000 grant to support an exhibition of Mexican-American women artists from Chicago that relates to the citywide celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution. 2009 3Arts Artist Awards $90,000 in unrestricted cash grants to six Chicago artists. Goodman Theatre A $10,000 grant supports “Taking the Stage: A Celebration of Women Making Theater,” a symposium that examines the position of women in contemporary theater. Rivendell Theatre Ensemble A $12,000 grant supports general operations for Rivendell, a company that gives voice to theatre’s forgotten majority by providing an artistic home for women actors, directors, and designers while serving as a leader in new play development for women playwrights. Special Projects Hyde Park Art Center A $10,000 grant supports the organization’s 70th Anniversary Celebration, 70 Days for 70 Years, a series of celebratory events showcasing Chicago artists through free exhibitions, publications, and educational and networking programs. Victory Gardens Theater A $7,000 grant supports performance opportunities through the Access Project, a series of performances and programs that involve people with disabilities in all aspects of production. The Access Project includes five Crip Slam Sundays performances and Love Person, a Victory Gardens mainstage production featuring deaf characters, deaf actors, and use of American Sign Language throughout, May 15-June 14, 2009. 2008 3Arts Artist Awards $90,000 in unrestricted cash grants to six Chicago artists.
