Iris Bernblum (she/her) is a cross disciplinary, conceptually based artist with a deep interest in the way Capitalism commodifies and mirrors the way we consume and guides our desires. She explores ideas around human nature, power, and vulnerability, focusing primarily on the way we frame our sense of self around gender, pleasure, and the natural world. She has a strong investment in performative-based work, although more as a voyeur than actor.
The work begins with writing: dialogues, poetry, intimate stories from her life. It then branches out into photography, video, painting, installation, and sculpture, often using text as a frame. Bernblum always invites you to play a role.
