Thomas Canty (they/them), also known by his stage name Tre Daniels, is a dancer, choreographer, DJ, and producer from Chicago. With over a decade of experience in hip-hop, house dance, and event production, he has become a dynamic force in the city’s cultural landscape.
As Artistic Director and Lead Event Producer of Jus.Be House Collective, he has organized festivals, workshops, and battles that highlight house culture, providing platforms for dancers, DJs, and community members to connect and grow. Thomas’s artistry spans performance, choreography, and music. He has choreographed for Hiplet, blending ballet, hip-hop, house, and Ndombolo, and performed for DJ Lady D at TedXChicago.
As a DJ, under the name DJ Salem, he has played major festivals like Riot Fest and My House Festival, while maintaining residencies that bring house music to diverse audiences. As an educator, he teaches at Healthy Hood Chicago and works with After School Matters, mentoring the next generation of professional dancers. His work reflects a deep commitment to preserving Black and queer roots of house culture while creating inclusive spaces for innovation, exchange, and celebration. Through leadership and artistry, Thomas continues to inspire and expand Chicago’s house community.
