Tre Daniels, also known as DJ Salem (they/them/he), is a Chicago based house DJ, producer, dancer, and cultural organizer whose work lives at the intersection of music, movement, and community. Rooted in Chicago’s house lineage, Tre’s practice centers care, legacy, and access, whether they’re behind the decks, building platforms for other artists, or curating spaces where dance and music meet.
As a resident DJ and collaborator with TribeCago, Tre has helped shape weekly and special event programming that celebrates Chicago’s house, disco, and underground dance music traditions. Their work as a selector is matched by a deep commitment to community building, creating spaces that feel both intentional and alive.
In 2026, Tre was named by Viva Acid as one of five DJs to watch, a recognition that reflects their growing presence and impact in Chicago’s music ecosystem. The feature highlighted not just their sound, but the way they move through the scene with purpose and care.
Tre has also worked with DCASE as part of the Chicago House Music Festival & Conference, where they served as a producer and brought their platform Body House Dance Summit into the festival, bridging house music and house dance in a public, intergenerational space. Body House Dance Summit, which Tre founded and curates, is a multi day celebration of house culture that centers dance, DJs, education, and community exchange.
Beyond live events, Tre shares mixes and original work on SoundCloud, and their DJ career includes features and performances connected to platforms like Red Bull, alongside festivals, clubs, and community spaces across Chicago. Whether performing, teaching, or producing, Tre’s work is grounded in honoring where house comes from while pushing toward where it can go next.
