ANNOUNCING CONTINUED PARTNERSHIP WITH HIGH CONCEPT LABS

CHICAGO, IL — 3Arts and arts incubator High Concept Labs (HCL) are thrilled to announce a continued partnership that connects artists supported through 3AP (3Arts Projects) to HCL’s Sponsored Artist Program. For HCL’s Spring 2018 Season, two past 3AP artists have been selected for the HCL Sponsored Artist Program: Jan Bartoszek and Aram Han Sifuentes. They are among eight local and national artists/collectives representing diverse artistic disciplines who will develop, rehearse, and present new work for Chicago audiences this season.

Jan Bartoszek (2017 3AP artist) will further develop her 3AP-funded project, Futura: Past Forward, while at HCL. "For Futura, I will apply Bauhaus principles and aesthetics—abstraction, playful thinking, experimentation—to the development of choreography and production elements, the use of 21st-century media, and the ways in which performers interact with the audience. Through playful experimentation with my dancers and collaborators, we will build a novel and richly theatrical movement playground that is threaded with a rousing musical score and a vibrant, colorful visual design."

Aram Han Sifuentes (2016 3Arts/Stan Lipkin & Evelyn Appell Lipkin Awardee and 2017 3AP artist) will work on a new project called #exsanguination: a process of cleansing and mourning, in collaboration with Roberto Sifuentes and Jon Cates. They describe it as "a performance where the bleeding body stands in for the displaced, invisible, and forgotten, becoming a site for activism, penance, and reinvention. In this new performance, live performance, the immediacy of glitches, and experimental soundscapes intersect on a concrete runway."
