Beyond Bodies of Work
Chicago, Illinois
In partnership with Hyde Park Art Center , Beyond Bodies of Work offers six-month studio residencies at the Art Center for Deaf and disabled artists who are alumni of the Bodies of Work residency program.
This residency builds on the existing 3Arts/Bodies of Work Residency, which provides customized, in-town residencies and monthly stipends for Deaf and disabled artists. Beyond Bodies of Work is centered on the continuation of professional development, creation of new work, and advocacy for Disability Arts & Culture. Residents receive a $4,500 artist honorarium, private studio at the Art Center, staff support, professional development opportunities, and more.
Beyond Bodies of Work residents are participants of The Jackman Goldwasser Residency at Hyde Park Art Center which connects artists deeply with their own practice by supporting research and network development in the context of the Art Center's vibrant, multifaceted community. Each year, their program invites international, national, and Chicago artists and curators to complement their mode of production with increased attention towards reflection, reconnection, and research to spark new ideas and considerations of local and global art practices.
