Black American Beauty is an album that shares memories from my POV, drawing from my own lived experiences with racism, fetishization, bullying, and self-hate. This is an album of live instrumentation and sonic excellence that tells a story of self-discovery and self-acceptance through sound, lyricism, historical storytelling and powerful imagery.

About This Project

I started writing this album in 2020 right before the pandemic. After a series of events made me question my own worth, I was beginning to verbalize the observations I was making around the mistreatment(s) I received due to the intersections around my identity. Tall, Dark Skinned, Fuller Figured, Queer, Black, and Woman from the South Side of Chicago. The way the world has perceived me and those like me, has resulted at an attempt to make us depreciate ourselves, and the ultimate end goal of the powers that be, which is complete eradication of those who do not fit under the white supremacist, patriarchal, capitalistic, and imperialist framework.

The rampant reemergence of outdated thinking around colorism, fatphobia, racism, anti-blackness, misogynoir, and homophobia/transphobia is a sight to behold. It's directly correlated to who we decide to love and who we decide to dispose of. Black American Beauty is an album that highlights the real life accounts from the Black American perspective that are terrifying, traumatizing, and horrific… to see, witness, and experience. “BLACK AMERICAN BEAUTY” is real life.

Black American Beauty is a moment of nonlinear storytelling that seeks to question and provide an answer to what it means to be Black, American, and Beautiful in times like these. This body of work serves as a testimony to thriving beyond mere survival. This album and the accompanying music videos aim to encourage us to restore a connection with our ancestors and be willing to be more than a witness to our own personal history.

These funds are pivotal for the album's completion and the production of high quality visuals, ensuring the project deeply connects with my audience the way it deserves. Additionally, it would allow me to support those who have worked with me and believed in me since the very beginning, when I had nothing but faith, a few dollars, and these ideas + concepts. Ultimately, this album will create a space for dialogue, healing, and empowerment. Investing in this project means supporting a movement that encourages young Black children to love themselves and their bodies. It empowers adults to embrace the versions of themselves they may have suppressed due to programming and as a form of  self-preservation. Together, we can build a vibrant community around Black American Beauty, ensuring its vision comes to life.

This album in its entirety will be available for viewing in the near future, so please be on the lookout for that. In the meantime, my first two singles CHAOS and CHURCH FAN  and music videos/short films can be found on all streaming platforms and YouTube. ⭐️

Thank you for helping me reach my goal in advance!
